Each year we try to make something unique. Some years we get it right (epoxy serving boards), and some years we don’t (hmm, shotskis come to mind).

This year, we decided on spice boxes—an idea Erin came up with and after a few prototypes we decided to forge ahead. Based on prior years, we know the defect rate is quite high, so we started making 12, knowing we need 9; one as a test, the second allowing for a screw up, and the third allowing for another screw up.

It was a family project with the girls doing much of the finish sanding and adding the Odie’s Oil (a food-grade finish).

Filling bags with peppercorns, salt, oregano, red pepper, wrapping boxing, all a group effort.

Most importantly, the girls created a video to show spice box recipients how it can be used. See the video here.

Enjoy, and a very Merry Christmas.

Love,
The Blue Burro Woodworks Team
